01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

The dining room fills with the savory aroma of skewers grilling slowly over charcoal embers. Tucked away in a side alley of Minami-Koiwa, Kakashikashi (かしかし) is a yakitori restaurant where guests can comfortably unwind over food and drinks in a calm setting. Counter seats offer a welcoming perch for solo diners stopping by for a quiet drink.

Charcoal-Grilled Skewers and Thoughtful Small Plates

The core of the menu is its grilled skewers, spanning staples such as pork belly, kashira (pork temple), and shiso-wrapped rolls, alongside limited cuts like tsunagi and chicken topped with melted cheese. There are also chicken tenderloins seasoned with plum or wasabi, beef skirt steak, and vegetable skewers like meat-wrapped asparagus and grilled eggplant, keeping choices interesting from one round to the next.

An ample selection of side dishes rounds out the skewer offerings. The house special stew—simmering beef tendon, offal, and daikon radish in white miso—is a classic companion to a drink. Plates such as lightly blanched chicken skin with its brisk texture, seared chicken breast served with grated daikon and ponzu, and rolled dashi omelets highlight the kitchen's careful prep work.

Drinks for Every Mood and a Hearty Finish

The drink list covers draft beer and Premium Malts black beer, along with Kaku highballs, fruit-accented highballs, cocktails, and wine. To close the meal, diners can turn to a gentle chicken zousui rice soup in rich broth, fragrant grilled-onigiri chazuke, or a yakitori rice bowl when a heartier finish is in order.

The venue is entirely non-smoking, featuring table seating suited for groups as well as advance reservations. Credit cards and PayPay are accepted, keeping payments straightforward for regular visits.
